    @gwern @michael_nielsen @shancarter @typostammtisch I am not sure about whether he was the first for either of these. @ANRT_type would know. But it does not matter so much, Metafont was definitely the most successful at the time.

      @gwern @michael_nielsen @shancarter @typostammtisch @ANRT_type However, Metafont describes fonts as collections of glyphs (parametrized). What I am thinking of goes beyond that and requires a longer explanation. I have been trying to come up with a nice metaphor for the past 30 mins. :) Failing so far.
