@bahmantype Since when is weight a universal parameter in typeface design? One could argue it was first introduced to the Latin script in 19th century (individually) and in 20th (as a secondary style) and spread from there.

@bahmantype I am not saying all scripts should copy whatever is happening in other scripts, but that you could look at it in a more relaxed way.

@bahmantype But I do get your issue with the GUI! To me, the italicization buttons are not a “craziest effect” of the Latin script (not all Latin type families include italics), but a poor poor assumption on the part of engineers. @KhaledGhetas would probably say racist.
